The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to spark creativity in your little ones than by gifting them a sewing machine? Sewing not only enhances fine motor skills but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and creativity. To make your holiday shopping easier, we've rounded up the best sewing machines for kids that blend safety with functionality for a truly magical crafting experience:

The Best: Bernette B37:

Not only is this the sewing machine that we use in our classroom - it has several  fabulous features that make it safe and easy to use. Speed control is a number one feature that we recommend when sewing with children, it forces the machine to sew slowly no matter how hard our little designers press on the pedal! It also allows sewing without the pedal, which is perfect for smaller children. Being a simple, computerized model means it's straightforward and easy to understand. Parent company Bernina also make finger guards that will fit this machine.

Runner Up: Singer Quantum Stylist Touch

The Singer Quantum Stylist machine is our runner up because it also has speed control, is easy to use, and allows for non-pedal sewing. The variety of stitches is wonderful but we found the the machine thread would tangle when actually using the decorative stitches or letter embroidery leading to a frustrating experience.

Sewing Machines for Kids under $250:

Brother CS7000X: While we don't have direct experience using this machine it does have the speed control feature that is a must when sewing with children.

EverSewn Charlotte: We've sewn with this model's predecessor and weren't too impressed. It's a bit clunkier than the Bernette and Singer, frequent thread tangles, and bobbin placement was difficult. Although some of these issues may have been resolved with the Charlotte. It's a cute 'lil machine with (you guessed it), speed control!

Don't forget the sewing supplies needed to go with your new machine such as thread, pins, fabric, scissors, and more!

This holiday season, give the gift of creativity and skill-building with a sewing machine tailored for kids. Whether your little one is a budding fashion designer or just wants to explore the world of crafting, these kid-friendly sewing machines are sure to bring joy and hours of creative play. Encourage their imagination to soar as they stitch their way into a world of endless possibilities!
